Cultural
Visa:
Cultural visas are issued to foreigners who are planning to study academic,
artistic, or cultural activities that provide no income such as the
Japanese language, ikebana, tea
ceremony, judo, or calligraphy. Applying for a cultural visa is very
similar to the process of seeking a work visa, as applicants will be
required to obtain a sponsor that will supply them with a certificate
of eligibility. Those wishing to work while on a cultural visa must
apply for a work permit, which differs from a working visa in that cultural
visa holder’s primary purpose is to study some aspect of Japanese
culture, which restricts them to working only twenty hours a week.
